Welcome To My 3rd Grade Art Page!

3rd Grade is represented by the color Green. This is because it is the 4th color in the rainbow! There are 6 colors in the rainbow. Just like there are 6 grades in Elementary School.
Our topic for our 3rd Grade year is Emotions. Artists sometimes make artwork to invoke certain emotions or feelings within the viewers. They may also create artwork as a way to express themselves. Since everyone experiences these different emotions they are an important part of our lives, and a very relatable subject to pursue. Art therapy is one way that people may use art to heal themselves emotionally and sometimes even physically. My 3rd graders learn about different artworks that portray emotion and are able to discuss the work they create and their own emotions with their classmates.
Before we begin please note that pictures of all finished works need to be posted to Artsonia before they can be graded! This is our way of documenting each students' work and progress in their own portfolio from Kindergarten up until 12th Grade! More information about Artsonia can be found under the resources tab of this website.
If you are interested in seeing more examples of the projects below they can also be found by visiting your schools' artsonia website.
Now that you know, let's get started!
Introduction: Day 1
During the 1st day we have together in class:
- I will teach the students how to find their assignment page here, and make sure they know how to join google classroom where announcements may be posted.
- We will go over the Introduction PowerPoint by grade. This contains the rules and expectations, and our theme for the year. Students will create a drawing of what they think the theme means and then we will discuss it together during critique time.
- I will begin passing out artwork from last year. Because of COVID I will only be collecting work on Artsonia this year. I will not be collecting artwork for an in-person art show.
-Homework for the next time we meet: If you haven't done so, join your Google Classroom for art, and get parent permission on Artsonia. (I will be passing out permission slips for any students that still need permission from parents for their work to be viewable by others.)

Here is the PowerPoint in case you wish to review any information. If there are any questions, please feel free to email me! Thank you, and do your best this year!
