Art I
Art I students will learn the basics of working with many different mediums, starting with 2-Dimensional work and moving to 3-Dimensional work in the 2nd half of the year. Students will learn the fundamentals of Art. They will begin by drawing with pencils and charcoal. They will later get the chance to work with materials such as wire, sculpture, ceramics, and more.
Art II
Students in Art II will be building on prior knowledge and experience learned in Art I by completing bigger, and more advanced projects like figure drawing and more. Students at this stage are working on improving skills, honing craftsmanship, and increasing their confidence in working with their materials. They are encouraged to think outside the box, and put their own spin and creativity into their assignments.
Art III
This course is a guided independent study. Students at this stage will need to submit proposals of projects they wish to make. They will also need to do research on any new topics/artists/ideas they wish to study. The instructor will help the student and give grades and mini assignments along the way that pertain to the students' interests. Students will participate in in-progress critiques with the Art II students to obtain more feedback and ideas from their peers. They have access to any materials and mediums that the school has to provide. Other materials may be purchased for use and brought in as needed. Students interested in pursuing a career in Art or design will be able to use this class to generate a portfolio and other documents needed for college entry.
Art History
This course will be offered to students as a dual-enrollment course through Penn Highlands, meaning that students will be allowed to take the course for college credits if they choose to do so. In this course students will gain knowledge of famous artists, artworks, time periods, and movements.
