Welcome To My 1st Grade Art Page!
1st Grade is represented by the color Orange. This is because it is the 2nd color in the rainbow! There are 6 colors in the rainbow. Just like there are 6 grades in Elementary School.
Our topic for our 1st Grade year is Nature. Nature is all around us, and it is human nature to create artwork about the world that surrounds us. This type of art may contain or display animals, plants, and environments.
Before we begin please note that pictures of all finished works need to be posted to Artsonia before they can be graded! This is our way of documenting each students' work and progress in their own portfolio from Kindergarten up until 12th Grade! More information about Artsonia can be found under the Artsonia tab of this website.

Now that you know, let's get stARTed!
Introduction: Day 1
During the 1st day we have together in class:
- I will show the students how to find their assignment page here.
- We will go over the Introduction PowerPoint by grade. This contains the rules and expectations, and our theme for the year. Students will create a drawing of what they think the theme means and then we will discuss it together during critique time.
- I will begin passing out artwork from last year. Because of COVID I will only be collecting work on Artsonia this year. I will not be collecting artwork for an in-person art show.
-Homework for the next time we meet: If you haven't done so get parent permission on Artsonia. (I will be passing out permission slips for any students that still need permission from parents for their work to be viewable by others.) Please make sure to check Class Dojo and this assignment page for any updates or announcements.
